A Wellbeing Escape
A Few Days in Stockbridge:

Sometimes you don’t need to travel far to feel like you’ve properly escaped.
For a recent long weekend, Shannon and I headed to Stockbridge in Hampshire for a few days of exploring, relaxing, eating, walking and, naturally, fitting in a little sauna and cold water.
It turned out to be the perfect combination of the things we enjoy — nature, movement, good food, interesting places and a bit of time to slow down.tart typing your own or paste your own from a different source.
Staying in the Trees at Wild Escapes
Our base for the weekend was the rather spectacular Wild Escapes Tree House. Perched in the trees overlooking the vines of Black Chalk Vineyard, it was one of those places where you could quite happily spend the whole weekend without leaving.
Nestled amongst a small wood, the treehouse felt secluded without being isolated. There was something wonderfully calming about waking up surrounded by trees and looking out across the vineyard.
It was a great reminder that sometimes wellbeing comes from simply changing your surroundings. No packed itinerary. No need to achieve anything. Just a beautiful place to switch off.

Sauna, Cold Water & Tuhka Talo

Of course, we couldn't go away without finding some cold water!
We headed to Tuhka Talo, near Stockbridge, for some sauna and cold-water therapy. Their woodland setting is exactly the sort of environment we love — surrounded by nature, with a wood-fired sauna and cold-water plunge baths.
The combination of heat and cold provided the perfect reset. There is something about stepping into cold water that immediately brings you into the present moment. Add a sauna, some fresh air and a beautiful woodland setting, and it becomes less about the 'therapy' and more about simply feeling good.
And yes, we did spend quite a bit of time discussing how we could recreate something similar at My Life Tonic!
We also made time for something completely different and visited the Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop.
Neither of us knew quite what to expect, but it was fascinating. The museum explores more than 100 years of British Army aviation and has more than 35 fixed-wing and rotary aircraft on display.
It was one of those visits where you arrive thinking you'll have a quick look around and end up spending considerably longer than planned.
The stories behind the aircraft and the people who flew them bring the history to life.

Walking Through History at Danebury
From flying to Iron Age history, we then headed to Danebury Hill Fort.
The hill fort dates back around 2,500 years and is one of the most extensively studied Iron Age hill forts in Europe.
What made our walk even better was listening to the Hampshire County Council YouTube guide as we walked. Rather than simply looking at a grassy hill and some earthworks, the audio helped us imagine what life might have been like there thousands of years ago.
It's a simple idea, but it completely changes the experience of a walk — turning a landscape into a story.

Exploring Stockbridge
We also spent time wandering around Stockbridge itself, exploring the independent shops and stopping for coffee along the way.
The town has a great collection of independent businesses, from food and outdoor pursuits to galleries, gifts and specialist shops.
For us, this is part of the appeal of visiting smaller towns. You can wander rather than rush, browse rather than buy, and discover places that you wouldn't necessarily find on a high street dominated by familiar names.
Our Slightly Unsuccessful Eclipse
And finally, there was the eclipse.
We were determined to experience it, armed with a piece of paper and absolutely no idea what we were doing!
Let's just say our attempt at viewing it was somewhat less impressive than the astronomical event itself. But perhaps that's the point. Not everything has to be perfect to be memorable.
A Little Weekend Wellbeing

Our few days in Stockbridge were a great example of what we mean by wellbeing at My Life Tonic.
It wasn't about following a perfect wellness routine or ticking off a list of healthy habits. It was about a mixture of things that made us feel good: sleeping somewhere beautiful, moving our bodies, being outside, trying something new, connecting with nature, eating well, exploring, laughing and taking time to slow down.
Sometimes wellbeing isn't something you have to add to your life.
Sometimes you just need to create a little space to enjoy the life you're already living.
